Cheryl Isaacs, the President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, rang me late last night. “Johnny” she said (Cheryl called me Johnny because that’s my name), “Johnny we heard how well organised the first annual Weekend Australian Motoring Lecture and BBQ Chicken With Salad event was, so we thought you could get them to give us a few tips for the Academy Awards.”

Now the gang at the Academy had probably heard of last weekend’s big Adelaide event, because the founder of this paper is an Adelaide person and these days he has a more than passing interest in the movie making caper.

Of course she was right.
