Let’s try to think of two good reasons to go to New Zealand. Hmmm.

Reason No1: Peter Webb is auctioning 60 serious motorbikes next weekend in Auckland. Over a few Yeastie Boys at the Loaded Hog in Quay Street, Spider suggested to me that the top buys will be the 1954 Vincent Series D for around $65,000 or the 1970 Velocette Venom Thruxton 500 with a Dodkin tuned engine. If you could grab this for around $50,000 you would buying be one of the great collector bikes of the twentieth century.

Imagine cruising around the Viaduct on this 180km/h machine. As Spider says ‘with its romantic 1930s fishtails with the proper black skin and racing fairing and cool aero dynamics you have one timeless and wildly charismatic piece of kit and only one of the 1200 genuine Thruxton’s ever dispatched from the factory’.
